The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, celebrated his 51st birthday on Friday, October 17, 2025, with heartfelt prayers for the peace and prosperity of Nigeria.
Born on October 17, 1974, Oba Ogunwusi ascended the throne as the 51st Ooni of Ife in August 2015, following the passing of Oba Okunade Sijuwade (Olubuse II).
In a statement released by the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s palace, Moses Olafare, the monarch expressed profound gratitude to Olodumare (God) for the gift of life and the strength to continue serving humanity.
He described his journey thus far as one of divine purpose and service, emphasizing the importance of traditional leadership in promoting unity and fostering the well-being of Nigeria and the African continent.
Oba Ogunwusi highlighted Nigeria’s vast human and natural resources, calling on all citizens to collaborate in building a peaceful and prosperous future.
He urged traditional rulers and the Oduduwa House worldwide to set aside divisions and work together to overcome the challenges confronting the nation.
“On this special occasion of my 51st birthday, I return all glory to Olodumare for His mercies and grace. I pray for peace in our nation, for wisdom for our leaders, and for prosperity in the lives of all members of the Oduduwa race globally. Our diversity is our strength, and together we can make Nigeria great,” the Ooni stated.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State also extended warm felicitations to the Ooni, describing him as “a beacon of peace, cultural rebirth, and national inspiration.”
Governor Adeleke lauded the Ooni’s enduring legacy and his tireless efforts in unifying and repositioning traditional institutions across Yorubaland.
As the Ooni celebrates this significant milestone, his commitment to fostering peace, unity, and national development continues to inspire many across Nigeria and the global Yoruba community.
