5 suspects nabbed for Oke-Ode community attack in Kwara — Police

Police in Kwara State have confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection with the recent killings in Oke-Ode community, a development that brings a measure of relief to residents in the troubled locality.

The announcement was made by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, following investigations into the attacks.

The arrests are in relation to a spate of violence that left multiple people dead and caused widespread fear in the community. According to the Punch report, the suspects were detained after security operatives intensified operations in and around Oke-Ode, acting on intelligence leads and cooperation from local residents.

Lens News learnt that the police have also recovered weapons and other incriminating items during the raids. The CP stated that the suspects will be thoroughly interrogated to fully ascertain their roles, accomplices, and motive behind the attack.

Commissioner Ojo reassured that more arrests may follow as security forces sweep the area and neighboring communities in search of others involved. He appealed to citizens to remain calm and support the police with credible information to accelerate the ongoing probe.

Local leaders welcomed the arrests but urged swift justice and better security infrastructure in Oke-Ode to prevent future violence. Many residents expressed hope that the suspects’ apprehension will restore a measure of peace to their community.
